Monkspath Business Park in Solihull has undergone an ambitious rebrand with a refurbishment programme propelled by products from Johnstone’s Steel & Cladding range, selected to provide a durable protective finish as well as meeting the client’s ten-year maintenance requirement.
Located in the West Midlands, Monkspath Business Park underwent a full exterior redecoration of its 38 industrial units by the North West branch of national painting contractors Alfred Bagnall & Sons. The Project Manager worked closely with members of Johnstone’s Technical Specification Team and Bagnalls to specify products that would bring the units to life, as well as ensuring they were fully protected from the elements and would meet the requirements of the client.
Johnstone’s Steel and Cladding Two Pack Primer and Semi-Gloss Topcoat were used in accordance with the specification provided by Johnstone’s Technical Advisory Department. Prior to work commencing and with the support of Johnstone’s Senior Specification Consultant Steve O’Hara, Bagnalls carried out product performance tests on units to ensure that the specified products would achieve the required results. The integral properties of both primer and topcoat offer long term protection against exposure to excessive weathering, and provide UV resistance even on the most exposed elevations.
Tom Evans, Johnstone’s Specification Development Manager for the West Midlands area, commented: “Johnstone’s products and the support of our technical specification team played an integral role in ensuring that the business park was refurbished to a high standard and in such a way that it will last for many years. We are so confident in the protective properties of this system that we were able to provide a manufacturer’s warranty for a period of ten years.”
In addition to the redecoration of the cladding, doors, doorframes, fascias, windows and timber frames were also redecorated using Opaque Wood Finish and Professional Gloss from Johnstone’s Woodworks and Trade ranges respectively.
Steve Bethell of Bagnalls said: “On a large-scale project such as this, it is imperative to have a support team that understands the needs of the project and the products best suited for the job. The Johnstone’s team provided all of these qualities and were always on hand with expert technical advice and support. The products specified have proved to be of excellent quality, providing a pristine finish and consequently resulting in the project’s immaculate outcome.”
