Johnstone’s Trade’s high performance products have been used to give an area of the Ex-Service Mens and Social Club in Hurstpierpoint a new lease of life.
Johnstone’s joined forces with national decorating contractor Bell Group to assist affordable housing provider Affinity Sutton in refurbishing a room, which it had recently designated for use as a meeting point for a local youth initiative it is supporting.
Volunteers from Bell Group worked alongside young people from the area to decorate the room using products from Johnstone’s comprehensive portfolio. Johnstone’s Durable Matt was supplied in a bold purple and red, while Covaplus Vinyl Matt and Professional Gloss and Undercoat were used in Brilliant White.
Johnstone’s also supplied decorating sundries from its sister brand Fat Hog, such as Super Contractor brushes, rollers and paint scuttles.
Following the completion of the work, Affinity Sutton, with the support of Bell Group and the local residents’ association, hosted an action-packed open day at the club so that the local community could see first-hand the transformation of the youth room. Johnstone’s continued its support of the initiative by bringing the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy for people to have their photo taken with, as well as offering two tickets to this season’s final at Wembley as a competition prize.

In addition, we had complete buy-in from the local residents’ committee and members of the club, so it truly was a joint venture. It was a hugely successful project that we’re extremely proud of and would like to thank Johnstone’s Trade for its help and support throughout.”
Helen Tiplady, Johnstone’s Trade specification marketing manager, added: “We have worked closely with Bell Group on a number of community projects this year and were only too happy to supply product and sundries for such a great cause. In addition to the fantastic makeover, the open day generated more than £200 for the club to make even further improvements to the facility.”
