Johnstone’s Trade has joined forces with Mansfield District Council to restore a sense of community pride by sprucing up a shopping precinct in the town.

The project to revitalise Ladybrook Square was spearheaded by the council, who viewed it as a unique opportunity to strengthen pride in the area and support local businesses by attracting more shoppers.

The external facades of ten shops on the square, as well as the railings at the nearby County Library, were all repainted by an army of volunteers from the community, including business owners and district councillors. Their job was made significantly easier thanks to the generosity of Johnstone’s Trade, who supplied a host of products from its high performance Stormshield range.

Supplied by the Johnstone’s Decorating Centre on Ratcliffe Gate in the town, the volunteers used Johnstone’s Smooth Metal Paint and Flexible Gloss, to repaint doors and windows along with fascia, metal shutter boxing and masonry surfaces.

Councillor Sharron Adey led the campaign and even donned her overalls to do a bit of painting herself. She said: “The whole project was about coming together as a community to make a difference to our local area, restoring a sense of pride in the community and helping local businesses. We’ve had some great feedback from the local community since the makeover, which makes it all worthwhile.

“Having the support of Johnstone’s Trade, who kindly donated the materials needed for the makeover, made all the difference to the success of the project and we were delighted they were able to help.”
