A new package of technical support services has been introduced by leading paint manufacturer PPG Architectural Coatings designed to provide professional decorators with all the information, training and skills they need to make the most of their business.

PPG Extra is a comprehensive package of advisory and consultancy services that has been developed to assist PPG’s customers in addressing ever-increasing legislative, technical, aesthetic and environmental demands.

PPG, who manufacture leading trade paint brands Johnstone’s and Leyland, as well as application tools brand Fat Hog, is already considered by many in the industry to be at the forefront of technical development and support for professional decorators. However, the introduction of PPG Extra now gives professionals added assurance that they can approach each project with first class support that can be relied upon.

One such area of support from PPG Extra comes in the form of training packages that have been designed to help contractors differentiate themselves from the competition, enhance their company image and promote best practice throughout the business.  Offering either onsite training, use of PPG’s head office demonstration facility or its Decorating Centre network, training solutions can be tailored to individual needs and can include modules on areas such as internal trim products, flame retardant coatings, antic bacterial coatings and VOC 2010 legislation, amongst many more.

Courses include open days, demonstrations on the latest products, industry innovations and the newest application techniques. These courses are designed to help everyday appliers and specifiers of paint expand and develop their knowledge.

Tim Hope, Technical Manager – Customer Support, comments: "PPG Extra’s experienced training and application team is made up of a support network of professional decorators and technical consultants who can help appliers achieve the perfect finish every time. Our extensive experience of working with the PPG range of products combined with our range of training solutions can help develop individuals as well as businesses".

A lot of faith is placed in the advice professional contractors provide to their clients, particularly when suggesting colour schemes, and PPG Extra’s colour services team is able to draw upon sector specific knowledge to ensure contractors are equipped with all the information needed to make a colour selection that will stand the test of time.  Whether a contractor is working from a client’s brief, site drawings or requires bespoke schemes and painted colour samples, PPG Extra can provide the ideas and answers.

A state-of-the-art tinting system and colour matching technology means that thousands of colours are available across both the Johnstone’s and Leyland product ranges. The unique colour matching service means PPG is able to match to any sample of paint, fabric, wallpaper and even tiles.  Samples from the original paintwork can be sent to a team of specialists, who are then able to accurately match the desired colour. The colour formulation is then passed to staff at the local Johnstone’s Leyland Decorating Centre for paint production.

Whether you need a simple technical question answering, a site visit or some advice on applying a product, PPG Extra will guide you through the process with ease. For more information on how PPG Extra can help you and your business call 01924 354945 or email ppgextra@ppg.com
