PPG Architectural Coatings UK & Ireland, whose brands include Johnstone’s and Leyland, has become the first UK paint manufacturer to introduce an innovative new colourant pouch designed to provide stockist customers with a cleaner and more environmentally friendly way of dispensing colour.
The high strength and flexible pouch is replacing the existing tin packaging used for water and solvent-based colourants for Johnstone’s and Leyland tinting systems and comes with a number of benefits to stockist customers.
The innovative pouch design means that it can be fully emptied, thus removing the need for scraping and maximising the colourant available for use. The percentage of residual colourant in traditional 1litre cans is 8%*, while the new pouches boast a volume of typically 2%. This ensures there is less unused colourant in the waste stream meaning the packaging is easier to recycle.
The pouch is fitted with a nozzle that ensures dispensing the colourant is easier and more accurate than before, while its slim line design and flexible material allows for a more comfortable grip, therefore making mixing more efficient.
As if all this wasn’t enough, the empty pouches can also be easily rolled up to reduce waste packaging storage. The innovative pouch solution has already turned heads across the industry after it was nominated as a finalist at the Sustainable Innovation Awards held by the British Coating Federation.
The launch of this new pouch continues PPG’s dedication to providing environmentally beneficial solutions for its customers, which was most recently showcased in the form of Johnstone’s new Ecological range of paints.
