Johnstone’s Trade has demonstrated its eye for creativity after one of its products was used to aid in the development of a series of summer exhibitions in London.

Bold Tendencies, a not-for-profit commissioning organisation based in Peckham, is staging a series of exhibitions led by Richard Wentworth’s ‘Agora’, which is a painted abstract design that covers the entire floor of a car park roof.

Using Johnstone’s Aluminium Paint, the exhibition is designed to reflect the changing weather conditions the roof is exposed to, unifying and activating the spectacular roof space through the summer months.

Johnstone’s Aluminium Paint is a solvent-based, protective metallic finish that can withstand temperatures up to 150ºC. In addition, its brilliant lustre has the added benefit of solar reflective properties.

Richard Wentworth said: “Trial and error is life's best friend. I prefer to find things, and then I like to test them. Experience rules. I came across Johnstone's Aluminium Paint by comparing it with others.

“I was thrilled, on opening the pot, to discover that sense of magical authority. Not only is there a great pleasure in applying Johnstone's, but there follows a double reward. It both delights the eye and resists the feet. Four fifths of art is entirely practical. I welcome Johnstone's as part of the final fifth.”

Johnstone’s Trade showcased its innovative approach to paint, design and colour earlier this year at Clerkenwell Design Week in London. The brand played an important role in the SCIN Gallery’s ‘Being Human’ exhibition, which showcased innovators who are committed to improving the planet with their ‘humanness’.
