JOHNSTONE’S SCORES WITH SPONSORSHIP SUCCESS

Leading trade paint brand Johnstone’s is celebrating the completion of a seventh successful year sponsoring one of English football’s showpiece tournaments.

The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, which culminated in a pulsating final between Crewe Alexandra and Southend United in front of over 43,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium, has proved to be another stand-out success as the Johnstone’s brand continues to reach football supporters across the country.

The Wembley final provided Johnstone’s with an opportunity to thank its biggest customers, who were treated to full corporate hospitality on the day, while last year’s Johnstone’s Young Painter of the Year winner Daniel Halliday enjoyed an all-expenses-paid visit to the event.

The build up to the final saw the hugely-popular Trophy Tours visit the Johnstone’s Decorating Centres in the respective finalists’ towns, with hundreds of fans flocking to get a first-hand glimpse of the coveted trophy.

The newly-introduced Paint Pot Challenge, a test of accuracy for professional footballers as they attempt to hit a ball into a giant inflatable paint pot, took place at ten Football League teams’ grounds around the country and attracted a whopping 22,000 views on YouTube.

However, it wasn’t just about the fans, players and clubs as there was also a chance for staff from Johnstone’s parent company, PPG, to get involved in a pre-match game ahead of the final. The two teams, appropriately named Emulsion City and Aqua Gloss Rangers, enjoyed their 15 minutes of fame and football glory as they faced each other in a tense game on the pitch at Wembley in front of thousands of fans.

Jane Clough, a member of Johnstone’s Sponsorship Team, said: “It has been a magical year for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and the tournament continues to go from strength to strength. The sponsorship provides us with a great opportunity to get the Johnstone’s name out to a huge potential audience. The truly memorable day at Wembley gave us an ideal way to thank our biggest customers and loyal staff for all their support over the past 12 months.”
