Our hygiene coatings, Microbarr, have been used on a number of the UK’s largest hospitals; most recently Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Southmead in Bristol.  Here’s 6 reasons why you should consider anti-bacterial paints for healthcare environments:

  1. Silver ion technology can be found in some paint formulations. If present, the hygiene coatings will limit the growth of harmful bacteria such as E-coli & MRSA.

  2. Decorative anti-bacterial paints will most likely be a water based product which are low odour, so great for confined areas, and fast drying, which is perfect for bringing an area back into use quickly - normally within 1 – 2 hours; this can be really important when refurbishing hospital wards.

  3. They tend to be available in durable finishes (matt and eggshell) that contribute towards lengthening overall maintenance cycles.

  4. There’s a wide range of colours to choose from (around 16,000 from some manufacturers) which helps to create the right ambience/environment through utilising the psychology of colour.

  5. They can help towards sustainable design, achieving desired BREEAM ratings.

  6. No specialist application required.
