Considering VOC Emissions
Low emission paints are better for health and the environment.
BREEAM, LEED and WELL set limits for the concentration of VOC emissions and formaldehyde – this goes beyond VOC content contained within the can, focusing on the emissions released from the paint once dry.
As of 2018, the BREEAM New Construction manual considers an Indoor Air Quality Plan a pre-requisite that must be completed at RIBA Stage 2, encouraging architects to consider air pollution early in the design process and put a mitigation strategy in place, to reduce VOC content & emissions.
One of the most widely used classifications for building material emissions assessment is the Indoor Air Comfort Test from Eurofins. PPG are proud to have a growing number of products which meet the VOC Emissions requirements for Indoor Air Comfort GOLD & Exemplary level.
